Project 180 – Building Renovation

God has richly blessed our congregation through our building project. Members and volunteers spent quality time working alongside each other. Our neighbors and members from the community stopped by to see the progress. A beautiful and reverent worship space was created.

Highlights from the project include raising the ceiling approximately five inches, installing recessed lighting, plastering the interior walls and ceiling with a Santa Barbara finish, installation of wood flooring, and construction of a new chancel, or altar area, with a stone backdrop. With our remodeled layout, we created a main entrance off Eastern Ave; created a nursery space for children; created a welcoming narthex area; and increased our seating capacity by approximately fifteen percent. The bathrooms have been completely remodeled to conform to ADA standards. Insulation was added above the ceiling to help with temperature control. New paint, ceiling, lighting, and carpeting were installed in our classroom/nursery and office. A new fence and gate were installed to help beautify our grounds.

The sanctuary, or worship area, is nearly complete. We just need to compete finishing touches such as installation of baseboards and trims. Major projects ahead include the plastering and painting of the exterior and the design and installation of a new exterior sign.

We thank all our supporters for their prayers and gifts. We praise God for the ability to use our building to create an audience for the live saving and changing gospel message. A dedication event will be planned for early 2018 after the exterior in finished.

Bilingual Family Bible Class

We continue our bible class on the Lutheran reformation. It centers on the teachings of grace alone, faith alone, and scripture alone. In early 2018, we are making plans to begin a bilingual, family bible study that focuses on the law, gospel, and application found in classic bible history lessons.
