The bible tells us that faith is being sure of what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1). At Christ the King we are sure that we have eternal life through our Savior Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit has worked this assurance in our hearts through the power of God’s Word. Statement of Beliefs
God is three divine persons, but only one God. This unique concept is called the Trinity. The Trinity consists of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God reveals himself to us through his Word, the Holy Bible. God’s Word is divinely inspired by him and free of mistakes, contradictions, or errors.
God the Father created the world and us. Although mankind fell into sin, God the Father loved us enough to send his Son, Jesus Christ, to be our Savior. God the Father also shows his love for us today by providing us with all that we need in our lives.
God the Son is our Savior. Through the innocent life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our sins are forgiven and we have the gift of eternal life. The bible shows us that Jesus Christ was both true God and true man. He had to be true man to be our substitute and to die the death we deserved. He had to be true God to live perfectly in our place and so that his death would count for all people.
God the Holy Spirit creates faith in our hearts. There is nothing we can do to earn our own salvation. But that’s okay because the Holy Spirit calls us to faith in Christ through God’s Word and the waters of baptism. The Holy Spirit continues to strengthen our faith through hearing God’s Word and receiving Christ’s body and blood in Holy Communion.
