What is a quinceañera?
Turning fifteen is an important milestone! In the Lutheran church, a quinceañera celebration provides a young woman with the opportunity to affirm her baptism and confess her faith. It also creates a special time to thank God for the blessings a young woman has received in her life and to ask for God’s help in her future.
Will you perform a quinceañera service?
We are happy to arrange for a quinceañera service. This service is available after the young woman, her parents or guardians, and padrinos have taken our Quinceañera Information Class. There is no cost for this class and it is taught on an individual basis.
What will I learn in the Quinceañera Information Class?
This class provides a overview of the Christian faith and practical considerations for living as a young Christian adult. It has three lessons. The first lesson centers on the certainty of eternal life. The second lesson focuses on God’s Word. The third lesson examines God’s expectations of young Christian adults.
What is your quinceañera service like?
Our quinceañera service follows a traditional format. It includes a confession and absolution of our sins, prayers, scripture lessons, a homily, an affirmation of baptism, a blessing given by the parents and godparents, and hymns. We can perform the service in English, Spanish, or a combination of both languages.
What happens after turning fifteen years old?
As a young woman enters adulthood, she should do so with the goal to remain in the Christian faith. God promises that time spent gathered around his Word and Sacraments cause our faith to grow. Therefore, we encourage and expect all quinceañera participants to continue their involvement in the church.
