The Lord has given you a sign
Hundreds of years before the birth of Christ, the prophet Isaiah spoke these words: “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14).”
This Christmas, the Lord has also given you a sign. He has given you the fulfillment of this promise. In God’s Word we read that Isaiah’s prophecy came true. In fact, the fulfillment of all the prophecies surrounding the Savior’s birth, life, death, and resurrection came true. Each of these fulfilled prophecies are a sign that God loves you; that God has forgiven your sins; and that you have the certainty of eternal life. Rejoice this Christmas season knowing that God keeps all his promises. The virgin did miraculously conceive a baby. She did give birth to a boy. This boy was Immanuel. He was Jesus Christ – your Savior.
New Marketing Materials
In order to market, or “brand,” ourselves in the community, several new materials have been developed. These include a logo, a bilingual website and a Facebook page. One item of special interest is our logo. The logo was produced in English (Christ the King Lutheran Church), Spanish (Iglesia Luterana Cristo Rey), and a mixed version shown on the back of this newsletter (Cristo Rey Lutheran Church).
Because our website and Facebook page only allowed us to select one version of our logo and in order to brand ourselves consistently, our materials will primarily use the mixed logo. Is Christ the King Lutheran Church still Christ the King Lutheran Church? Absolutely! However, using a blended logo will allow us to be inclusive to both English and Spanish speakers.
Additional marketing materials that are still being developed include a canvass banner for the church property and brochures that can be used for distribution in the community. May God bless the use of these tools so that we may have opportunities to share the good news of Jesus Christ.
Starting on January 21, Christ the King will offer worship services in Spanish every Saturday at 6:00pm. These worship services will be streamed on our website and on iGlesia Luterana Cristo (iglesialuteranacristo.com). While anyone is welcome to attend these Spanish services, they will serve as an opportunity to “test” our service style, music, and audio/visual equipment. We will put even more focus on inviting Spanish speakers in our community to our worship services in the future.
Academia Cristo Presentation
A new Spanish-language website, Academia Cristo (Christ Academy), was launched in 2015 by the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). The goal of Academia Cristo is to use videos and audio Bible studies to reach out to non-Christians as well as to train Latin American church members how to share their faith. Today, over 400,000 people follow Academia Cristo on Facebook. This online ministry platform hosts over 10,000 interactions every day.
Academia Cristo works with a website called iGlesia Luterana Cristo (Christ Lutheran Church). iGlesia Luterana Cristo exits to provide worship services in Spanish to online viewers. It is also used by Academia Cristo to demonstrate to its students what constitutes Christ-centered worship.
On January 22 at 9:30am, Missionary Mike Hartman from Mexico will present at Christ the King Lutheran Church on the work of Academia Cristo and iGlesia Luterana Cristo. He and Pastor Behmer will also discuss how our congregation will be collaborating with Academia Cristo and iGlesia Luterna Cristo to stream our Spanish services throughout Los Angeles and Latin America.
