Building Remodel

The project continues! This week, gutters were installed on the north side of the building. On May 30, we underwent our inspection with the city of Bell Gardens. We had several minor corrections to make ranging from exit sign placement to door handle types. Soon, we will undergo a final inspection. The last area of focus will be exterior signage. The church council is currently reviewing best options.

New Member Welcome

On June 3, we welcomed five new members. It is a joy to have these souls officially join our church family.

Community Scan and Focus Group

On July 30, we will welcome a team of volunteers from Kingdom Workers. They will canvass our community July 31 through August 2. They will also help with a community focus group that will be held at our church on August 3. Their goal is to identify needs in the community that could be met by a lay ministry at Cristo Rey Lutheran. Then, Kingdom Workers may help us develop a ministry that meets an identified need with the goal of building relationships to connect people to the gospel message.

Back-to-School Event

On August 3, we will host a Back-to-School event for our community. There will be music, jumpers, food, games, and booths from other organizations in the community. More information will be coming soon. The volunteers from Kingdom Workers will help with this event.

Dedication Event

On August 5, at 10:45 AM we will have a special worship service to dedicate our remodeled worship space. The goal of this service is to dedicate our building to God’s glory, give God thanks for our greatly enhanced worship space, and ask that God bless the preaching of his Word and the administration of his Sacraments in our building. A reception will follow.

Catechism Class

Catechism class is held every Friday at 6 PM. Students are currently studying the Ten Commandments. Please note there will be no catechism class on June 15 or June 22. Class will resume on June 29.

June 17-22 will be our synod’s annual convention. This year’s convention will focus on the 100th anniversary of the synod and 50 years of mission work in Peru. For more information, please visit els.org.
